This is the raw satellite image from GOES East taken at 2115Z on August 28, 2005. It shows Hurricane Katrina at maximum intensity, heading towards the Louisiana coast. The GOES satellite captures images in grayscale and then the Lab enhances and colorizes these mapped images. Credit: NOAA/NASA GOES Project..NASA image use policy.
