日本語: 1941年（昭和16年）の初冬。土門拳の写真「傘を回す子供」から強いインパクトを受けていた三木は、当時まだ有名ではなかった土門を誌面で取り上げる事を石津に進言した。12月、取材のため築地明石町31番地にある土門の棟割長屋を訪ねると、彼は毛筆で巻紙に手紙をしたためているところだった。初めて会った土門の印象は「すごいバイタリティーのある人で、とにもかくにもびっくりした」と語っている。二人はこの時初めて顔を合わせた。土門拳32歳、三木淳22歳であった。後年、あの時毛筆で巻紙にどんなことを書いていたのか尋ねたら「借金の申し込みだよ。人さまから金を借りるときは礼を尽くさねばならない」と言われた。写真は『写真文化』1942年1月号に掲載された。
English: Early winter of 1941 (Showa 16). Miki, who was strongly impacted by Ken Domon's photo "Children who turn an umbrella," advised Ishizu to take up Ken Domon, which was not yet famous at the time, in the magazine. In December, when I visited the ridge-wari nagaya of Domon at 31 Tsukiji Akashicho for coverage, he was writing a letter on a wrapping paper with a brush. The impression of Domon that I met for the first time was "I was surprised because he was a person with great vitality." The two met for the first time at this time. Ken Domon was 32 years old and Jun Miki was 22 years old. Later, when I asked him what he was writing on the wrapping paper with a brush at that time, he said, "I'm applying for debt. When I borrow money from people, I have to be thankful." The photo was published in the January 1942 issue of Photo Culture.
