Summary[edit]

Description
English: This video clip explains the process of preparing seawater for drinking. Here, for example, reverse osmosis can be used, where salt water is forced through a membrane. In this process, the salt is separated from the fresh water. On the other hand, salt water can be evaporated. The fresh water rises in a gaseous state, is cooled and later recaptured. In both cases, the extracted salt remains. It is usually returned to the sea, but this damages ecosystems if there is too much salt. Therefore, it is preferable to recycle brines. A clip from the Tagesschau.
