mité. Le bon coloris éclate dans ses ouvrages ;comme aussi Fon y remarque F exactitudedu dessein, & la conaissance de la per-spective^ des clairs-obscurs. Les figurescependant ne sont pas fort soignées, &les contours sont un peu trop marqués:mais nous avons deja observé, que sonplus grand mérite fut de colorer lesfruits, & autres pareils ornemens. Si il n avait suivi Vasari, qui en cetems-là occupait la premiere place parmiles Artistes, par la protection de la Cour ;notre Peintre serait à peine sorti deF obscurité ; mais il était necessaire de lenommer dans notre Suite, pour faire co-naître aussi quelcun des Peintres de laseconde classe cFun tenu, où la surab-ondance des Artistes, Peintres & Scul-pteurs était si grande, que pour les oc-cuper on faisait peindre les façades, lescours des Palais, les grottes des Jardins,les tabernacles des rues, & même lesarcs de triomphe & le trophées, à F arri-vée des Princes & autres illustres Per-sonages.
