Description

R.W.Denyer's very smart AEC Regal IV with ECW body ex- Tilling outside the owner's bungalow, Craigielea. The fleet usually consisted of one very interesting coach and one double deck bus (plus a whole field of vehicles for cannibalisation). I only ever saw this coach on schools contracts. An ex-Glenton Tours central entrance AEC would be found here in the 1980s . LYM730 previously operated for Bickers of Coddenham in Suffolk, who had bought it from Mrs E.M Wicks of Braintree (not operated). 732 has been preserved, which ran for Ron Denyer before 730. 730 had a green band, 732 a brown one. The early 70s Televised "happening " for the arts programme of LWT, Aquarius took place in Denyer's yard, involving Harvey Matusow and Annea Lockwood setting fire to a piano as a Happening. The man responsible is here. The site was recommended by Henri Chopin, the experimental sound composer. I wonder if Den remembers it, and if so how much ITV paid! there's a nice story about Ron Denyer on [www.stondonmasseypc.co.uk/?dl_id=48 page 16 here] of last year's Stondon Massey magazine.

Ron Denyer died on 23 March 2000 aged 80. His maternal grandfather was a German engineer who had emigrated to England in the 1880s. Denyer Bros related to Ron and his younger brother Denis James Denyer (Den),b.1923.
