Description
Nederlands: WERKENDAM - Vandaag, 7 maart, bracht de commissaris van de koning provincie Noord-Brabant, Wim van de Donk, zijn laatste werkbezoek aan de huidige gemeente Werkendam. Samen met de gemeenten Woudrichem en Aalburg gaat zij per 1 januari 2019 op in de nieuwe gemeente Altena.

Naast een gesprek met het college van burgemeester en wethouders en de fractieleden van de lokale partijen bracht Wim van de Donk een bezoek aan TMS en Concordia Damen in de Biesboschhaven, beide actief in de technische en maritieme sector welke voor Werkendam kenmerkend zijn.

Al in 2013 gaf van de Donk na een werkbezoek aan Woudrichem en Aalburg een signaal af tot samenvoeging van de 3 gemeenten zonder vanuit de provincie dwang uit te oefenen. “Het zou erg on-Brabants zijn om als boeman de politiek te dwingen tot herindeling”. Van deze herindeling gaat het komen waarmee van de Donk zijn laatste officiële bezoek aan de individuele gemeenten heeft gebracht.
