Mellomveien går fra Innherredsveien til Thomas von Westens gate og er oppkalt 1915 etter beliggenheten mellom Strandveien og Innherredsveien. Veien var tidligere en del av Gamle Kirkevei, og navnet hadde lenge vært i uoffisiell bruk. Etter at omnibusselskapet 1893 åpnet sin første linje gjennom veien, ble den kalt Omnibussveien.

Mellomveien 7, Lademoen hjem for gamle. Bankbud Johan Leistad og hustrus legat til trengende menighetslemmer i Lademoens menighet ble opprettet 1916 av bankbud Johan Leistad (1842 - 1919). Leistad var bankbud i Den Nordenfjeldske Kreditbank og etterlot 13 213 kr. til legatet. Han etterlot like mye til et legat i Malvik. Leistad etterlot også sin eiendom Mellomveien 7 til aldershjem for Lademoen.
