Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Last fall on the Upper Tees The run down the River Tees from the plunge pool of High Force down to the footbridge at Newbiggin is a classic grade 4 trip, possible even at levels where the rest of the river is something of a bump and scrape. Below Wynch bridge gorge, the river starts to ease up, but there are still a number of grade 2 and 3 rapids, culminating in this final drop. The drop is least river left, but go too far and there are rocks and a shallow landing, and an awkward exit back river right to avoid more rocks. Too far river right is an attractive tongue of water that seems to capsize all who try. Somewhere in the middle, as shown by Richard Wormald here on a Swaledale Outdoor Club trip, seems about the best.
