Français : La plaque a été changée au mois de mai 2007 pour mettre à jour les dates de changement de l’heure normale et de l’heure avancée de l’Est. Le cadran solaire indique l'heure normale de l'Est. « Contrairement à la plupart des cadrans solaires qui sont munis d'une tige ou d'un style effilé comme une lame de couteau, le style de ce cadran est de forme cylindrique ce qui complexifie grandement les calculs. Même la réfraction de la lumière causée par le plexiglas recouvrant le diagramme des heures a été prise en considération par le concepteur. Le professeur Sanchez a prévu deux diagrammes des heures, l'un pour l'heure normale et l'autre pour l'heure avancée. Comble du raffinement géodésique, le gabarit servant à ajuster correctement la position des diagrammes est muni d'une mire pointant directement au milieu des fenêtres centrales du pavillon Louis-Jacques-Casault, le pavillon qui abrite le Département des sciences géodésiques et de télédétection. » Extrait d’un article paru dans Le Fil, le 9 juin 1994.
