Dans l'Arsenal, le pavillon des Emirats Arabes Unis présente une histoire de l'architecture de 1914 à 2014

L'exposition du pavillon, très bien conçue, révèle la recherche par les architectes d'une identité des Emirats à travers des références à l'architecture vernaculaire mais c'est l'architecture internationale monumentale qui envahit l'espace urbain surtout depuis une trentaine d'années

A titre d'exemple, la Burj Khalifa est devenue en mai 2008 la plus haute structure jamais construite par l'homme. Sa hauteur finale, atteinte le 17 janvier 2009, est de 828 mètres. Elle sera prochainement dépassée par la Kingdom Tower qui est en construction en Arabie Saoudite et qui doit atteindre 1000 m.
