Summary
[edit]DescriptionLeighton Buzzard Panorama northward from above Linslade Tunnel, with Up express geograph-2094749-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Panorama northward from above Linslade Tunnel, with Up express. View north from above the Linslade Tunnels north of Leighton Buzzard on the West Coast Main Line. The express is a Manchester (London Road) to Euston service, headed by LMS "Jubilee" 6P 4-6-0 No. 5556 Nova Scotia: very clean and still in LMS livery 10 months after Nationalisation. It is on the Up Fast line, which shares with the Down Slow the original double-track bore of this three-bore (Grade II Listed) tunnel; Down Fast traffic has to use the particularly narrow single bore (underneath at left), Up Slow traffic uses the other single bore. The bridge carries the A4146; in the distance is the high ground around Woburn. |
