Oliver Johnson stresses to William Lloyd Garrison that should he feel that composing a lecture to be too burdensome at present, he may feel free to speak extemperaneously, and states that it would be his preference to hear Garrison speak so were it not for his wish to publish Garrison's lectures, and his fear that a written speech would have better effect in such an endeavor. In a separate note, Johnson informs Garrison that Henry Ward Beecher has had a "private interview" with "John Mitchell", being introduced by Mr. Maxwell at the 2nd Unitarian Church in Brooklyn
