A.A. Phelps writes to J.G. Whittier in protest to his recent conduct. Phelps asks Whittier not to ́pass judgment on [the] ease of which you know nothing,́ and not to ́condemn us for getting out of [the trouble] into which you plunged us, in the best way we can.́ Saying that Whittier ́yoked the abolition question here with ́Œ extraneous questions,́ Phelps asks him to remove the responsibility in relation to the Grimk©♭ sisters from [the Massachusetts Anti-slavery Society], to dismiss Henry C. Wright from his agency, and to induce Garrison to ́wave the discussion in the Liberator of the Sabbath, ministerial, peace, women, and Government questions,́ as well as removing the connection Whittier formed between the Liberator and the Massachusetts Anti-slavery Society
