Summary[edit]
DescriptionLine of Portsmouth and Arundel Canal at Marsh Lane - geograph.org.uk - 1543923.jpg |
English: Line of Portsmouth and Arundel Canal at Marsh Lane The Portsmouth and Arundel canal was derelict by the middle of the C19, and this section is shown on maps as returned to farmland even by the end of that century. There is no trace of the canal on this side of Marsh Lane, but it used to run in a straight line towards the left hand end of the line of trees in the distance (which mask greenhouses beyond), with Marsh Lane visible to the left. However, Marsh Lane still rises slightly over the line of the canal, and the bed remains visible to the west of it. |
