Summary
[edit]DescriptionLingreabhagh from the shore - geograph.org.uk - 106518.jpg |
English: Lingreabhagh from the shore. Lingreabhagh (Lingerbay) is a small township at the foot of the mountain Roineabhal (460m), which was the subject of a proposal to become a superquarry, extracting the unusual rock, anorthosite, of which it is made. The crushed rock is used for road surfacing. Old quarries near the township were the main UK source of alkali feldspar during World War 2. |
