English: Literary sign 'The Gentle Shepherd' Allan Ramsay was an Edinburgh poet who wrote 'The Gentle Shepherd' in 1725. The play was set in and around Carlops and now a couple of commemorative signs have been placed by the path by the N Esk; an older stone plaque with the same verse is just above on a rocky outcrop. |
