Summary
[edit]DescriptionLoch Camargy, Tullynaglack - geograph.org.uk - 1303390.jpg |
English: Loch Camargy: Tullynaglack In the 1930's, one day at the turf cutting, two men from Doorin, Coulter & Packy Higgins cycled up to this area at about 6am.
They reached the overgrown loch and were astonished to see a mediaeval scene, castle with turrets, well kept fields with cattle and people in old style clothes. In the 18th century the marquis of Connyngham, took a notion to drain the loch. He started a team of diggers and went for a stroll around the loch, smoking a cigar. He came back, looking shaken & white, told the workers to stop and paid them a full day's wages for only an hour's work and sent them home. |
