English: The Lockheed XC-35, the first American aircraft with a pressurized cabin. NACA pilot Herbert H. Hoover intentionally flew the XC-35 into thunderstorms to gather data on the effects of severe weather on aircraft. These flights were following years later by further studies at Langley Research Center conducted with a Convair F-106 and a Learjet. |
