Summary[edit]

Description
English: Routemaster bus RML2573 (reg. JJD 573D), seen here parked up on Finnieston Quay, Glasgow. Having been converted in 2005/6 by 95.8 Capital London into a mobile radio station after withdrawal from London route service, it's normal use in the years since has been to promote products or events linked to Global Radio's various local radio stations or their common network identity, through the use of vehicle graphics. In this situation however, the job was a slightly different. It was promoting the 2012 Olympic related intitiative, the Samsung Hope Relay, in which members of the public downloaded an app which would track how many miles they ran or cycled, which would translate into a charitable donation by Samsung. While these runs/cycles could take place anywhere in the qualifying period (14? May to 12 August), as seen in this Flickr image, on this day (1 June) the bus was sited at a start/finish podium in Glasgow city centre, suggesting there was to be an organised run, which would then mean the outside broadcast facility could be utilised (as opposed to just the promotional apsect). This fixed event was perhaps laid on to build up interest in the 2012 Summer Olympics torch relay, which passed through the city a week later on 8 June.
