Summary
[edit]DescriptionLudlow postbox at West Woodburn post office - geograph.org.uk - 1466526.jpg |
English: Ludlow postbox at West Woodburn post office, Northumberland. A Ludlow postbox with enamelled plate bearing the cipher of Elizabeth II from the very beginning of her reign, early in 1952. Such boxes were typically installed at rural post offices. From later in 1952 until 1965, when the design was discontinued, the boxes no longer bore the plate with its warning against sending valuables by ordinary mail, the royal cipher (or Scottish crown) and the words POST OFFICE being cast into the door instead. |
