Summary[edit]
DescriptionLydd Town Railway Station (geograph 5461064).jpg |
English: Lydd Town Railway Station 2017 marked the 50th anniversary of the closure of this station to passengers (on 6 March 1967). The station buildings are still in remarkable condition, which may be partly due to the fact that the line is still open, as it is used by trains carrying nuclear fuel flasks from Dungeness Power Station to be reprocessed elsewhere in the UK. It is a pity that the site has been left to go its own way, as the main station building could have been converted into residential accommodation as has happened to TQ9926 : Brookland Halt, the next station on the line towards the junction at Appledore (on the Ashford International to Brighton line). This image of TR0421 : Lydd Town Station was taken from the bridge over the railway. |
