Summary[edit]

Description
English: Detail of a map of Maastricht, the Netherlands, showing the central part of the city in 1749 between Grote Staat, Kleine Staat, Kersenmarkt, Achter het Vleeshuis and Vijfharingenstraat. The symbol '&' indicates the location of the Vleeshal, the former meat market; 'aa' is the Dinghuis, a former courthouse. The map by French military engineer Jean-Baptiste Larcher d'Aubencourt was used to build the Maquette of Maastricht (1752), now in the Musée de Beaux Arts in Lille, France. The map (or a copy?) is in the collection of RHCL archives, Maastricht.
