Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Manorowen through a green shade The house can be seen dimly behind the young foliage of an enormous horse chestnut tree on the edge of the garden. John Lewis, the C17 squire here, was said by his great-grandson, historian Richard Fenton, to have had a passion for planting trees: "The growth near his house served the double purpose of a family register and a tract of chronology, for he devoted a tree to the birth of all his children and grandchildren, who were numerous, and there was not an event of any importance in his time that was not so recorded."
