Description
English: Covers the area bounded by 17th, H, 15th streets N.W., and the Washington Canal. Shows "Presidents House," "Treasury &c.," "War Office" buildings, and block numbers and dimensions for the ends of blocks facing the White House grounds. Drawn between 1798 and 1805 as evidenced by the features shown. In present day area of the Ellipse: Appropriation No. [S?]. Title devised by cataloger. Pen-and-ink with addition in blue pencil. Originally drawn on 2 sheets. Stained and missing upper right corner. Available also through the Library of Congress Web site as a raster image. Phillips. Washington 1174 Vault DCP
