February - Divers 2023 February 21st, 2023 is Mardi Gras Day! Join the Krewe du Belge's Second Line* and their fanfare tour of downtown jazz cafes. Dress up, and go to the pedestrian area of ??the Brussels-City Center which will host the very first Second Line* Jazz New Orleans in Brussels. With the musicians of Krewe du Belge, accompanied by the brilliant brass band NO Pareto (Ghent). Journey : 5 p.m.: gathering at the Dolle Mol Rue des Eperonniers 52, 1000 Brussels Created in 1969, the Dolle Mol cafe is a historic place in the Belgian libertarian milieu. There's a jazz jam scheduled there every Friday. 6 p.m.: gathering for the Second Line* in front of our national Manneken Pis > Grand Place > Galeries St Hubert > Jeanneke Pis > ... 7 p.m.: Gathering at Cafe Roskam Rue de Flandre 9, 1000 Brussels The Roskam is a cafe known for its beers and gin and tonics, its warm atmosphere and its good program of jazz concerts on Sunday evenings. 8 p.m.: gathering at L'Archiduc Rue Antoine Dansaert 6, 1000 Brussels L'Archiduc is an emblematic place of Brussels nightlife. It was in 1953 that the Belgian Jazz pioneer Stan Brenders made it an Art Deco Jazz Club. 9 p.m.: gathering at the cafe Metteko Boulevard Anspach 88, 1000 Brussels Jam Jazz at the Metteko cafe, a historic and popular cafe in the center of Brussels. Free event, children admitted, another way to discover another Jazz, festive and folkloric, but also all those cafes that bring live music to life in Brussels. Dress code : Carnaval *What is a Second Line? This is a New Orleans brass band parade tradition. The 'Main Line' (first line) is made up of musicians who march while playing. The 'Second Line' is made up of the audience following the musicians enjoying the music, singing and dancing. This Second Line audience has a very important role, they are part of the show. Ideally, they are disguised, made up and wave umbrellas or white handkerchiefs. We count on you. With the support of the City of Brussels.
