[edit]DescriptionMarines, ANA surge Sareagar in 'meet & greet' operation 110825-M-VI905-214.jpg |
English: Afghan boys read one of the fliers passed out by the Marines and Afghan soldiers during an operation to surge forces in Sareagar Village, Aug. 25. The two-day operation, spearheaded by 81 mm Mortar Platoon, Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, increased the International Security Assistance Force presence throughout the village and enabled the Marines to focus on interacting with the population. One of the tools ISAF uses to reach local Afghans, with a seven percent literacy rate in Sangin, is illustrated fliers to depict what the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is doing for them.
