Emma, native of Chicago, Ill., airframes mechanic with HMLA-269, watch as an AH-1W Super Cobra with HMLA-269 takes off the flight deck of the USS New York (LPD 21) during flight operations off the shore of Jacksonville, Fla., April 26, 2014, during the ship’s departure to South Florida. Marines and Sailors from HMLA-269, Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, and 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., embarked aboard the USS New York and set sail to South Florida to partake in the 24th annual Fleet Week in Port Everglades, South Florida’s annual celebration of maritime forces.
