| Description |
English: Marquis of Lorne, Nettlecombe The Marquis of Lorne was the husband of Princess Louise, fourth daughter and sixth child of Queen Victoria, whom he married in 1871. Although of noble blood, being the son and heir to the Duke of Argyll, it was not royal blood, and so the marriage caused a stir in the royal family. However, the member of that family with the most say, namely Queen Victoria herself, was not "not amused", and sanctioned the marriage. This is one of a number of pubs named after him. |
