| Description |
Nederlands: Op 21 augustus 2016 brak de mast van het historische zeilschip ‘Amicitia’ onverwachts af omdat deze grotendeels was doorgerot. Hierbij kwamen drie mensen om het leven. Om de veiligheid van passagiers te waarborgen, moet de bruinevlootsector van historische schepen professionaliseren. Bij de commerciële groei van de afgelopen decennia is een achterstand opgebouwd in kennis en kunde over veilig onderhoud van deze bijzondere schepen. Ook de certificering en het toezicht op de bruine vloot is onvoldoende: keuringsinstanties houden zich niet aan de wettelijke voorschriften en toezicht vanuit de Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport ontbreekt.
