English: Meare Heath Looking across the reed beds and along the edge of the birch woodland behind the bird hide, with Glastonbury Tor in the far distance.
Meare Heath is part of the Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve. It is important for its fenland, wet meadows, reedbeds and wet woodland and the large areas of open water formed by restored peat workings. |
