Summary
[edit]DescriptionMeaty hydraulic pump, Avesta Cyclops Works. - geograph.org.uk - 1670291.jpg |
English: Meaty hydraulic pump, Avesta Cyclops Works. This is the main hydraulic pump for an 8000 ton hydraulic press 1668885. It is about 700 horsepower (from memory) and is a three throw device that looks like it's carved from the solid and is motor driven through a fluid flywheel (also known as a Foettinger coupling or torque converter). This drives the main rams for applying the squeeze. The back-off rams are driven by smaller, duplicated hydraulic pumps of a lighter/more conventional appearance. |
