Each of thebidders, after spending a great deal moretime in figuring the job than would other-wise have been necessary, submitted hisproposition, but all to no purpose, assuch a wide variation of ideas was foundand such a lack of uniformity in thecost of the work that the designers werecompelled to readvertise for bids on auniform and carefully drawn plumbingplan and specification. The plumbing for a building should beso indicated in the drawings and describ-ed in the specifications as to cover every-thing required, and so clear and conciseas to be readily understood by the aver-age plumbing contractor. The positionsof all mechanical appliances in connec- tion with the plumbing should be clearly sump pits, conductor lines, etc., shouldshown upon whatever floor plan such be located beyond dispute.
