868-1871. He was employedfor a few months in the office of the Lum-bermans Gazette, at Baj City, that paperbeing the first one established in the directinterest of the lumber trade. In 1873 Mr.Judson established the INIichigan Lumber-man at Grand Rapids, Midi., but removed to.Muskegon after the first issue, and in Jan.,1874, to Chicago, at tlie same time chang-ing the nime to the Nortliwestern Lum-berman, wliich was for many years regardedas among the leaders of its class. In 1899the Northwestern Lumberman was consoli-dated with the Timberman, under an incor-jjoration, of which Mr. Judson is tiie pres-ident and general manager. He is a mem-ber of the Union League and HamiltonClubs of Chicago. He married at Roclicster,X. v., in 1872, Grace King, and has threechildren. Residence: 4231 Michigan Ave-nue. He has been instructor of en-gineering at the United States MilitaryAcademy, assistant to chief of engineers,and was military attache with the RussianArmy, in the Russo-Japanese War. He isnow in charge of lake and harbor improve-ments and lighthouse construction on LakeMichigan. Major Judson was married atLexington, Ky., April 22, 1891, to AliceCarneal Clay, and they have one son. Hisaddress is: Care of Adjutant-General, UnitedStates Army, ^^■aslling•ton.
