Summary[edit]

Description
English: Miniature Golf Course, Western Lawns The pitch and putt course is built into the former river bed of the River Adur whose mouth was pushed eastwards to Hove by longshore drift. In the late 18th century a cut was made at Kingston Buci nearer to Shoreham the port on the original river mouth which was made permanent in 1817. Part of the former river course was canalized and dredged in the 1850s and now forms the eastern arm of Shoreham Harbour. The former bed to the east of Aldrington Basin remained marshy ground until the 1920s when they were drained, a sea wall was constructed on the former shingle bank on the southern side and the land in between laid out for pleasure purposes; Hove Lagoon, the golf course, a bowling green and the lawns. The flats on the left are Braemore House receiving a brief period of sun before the next storm cloud arrives.
