Description

Se accede al Casco Histórico de la Villa por la antigua muralla que circundaba en viejo núcleo urbano, por el torreón conocido como Portal de Daroca, con un pórtico de planta baja. El interior de esta construcción se destinó a carcel en tiempos pasados por lo que también se le llama Torreón de la Carcel. Desde aquí da paso a una calle recta y estrecha, la más urbana y señorial con edificios solariegos y escudos heráldicos esculpidos en los sobreportales. Por esta calle se generan pasadizos cubiertos que ascienden hasta la "Era de la Cruz", elevación de terreno que junto con el lugar donde se localizan los restos del antiguo castillo de Montalbán, cerraban el perímetro defensivo.

Esta calle muere en la Plaza Mayor que aparece subordinada al potente volumen y majestuosidad del templo La Iglesia de Santiago.
