Description
日本語: クールベー中將の記念碑。光緒十年清國は佛國と事を構へて東京に戰った。此時佛國の海軍提督クールベーは中將に昇進し，福州海岸に出動して大に清國の福建艦隊を破り，進んで澎湖島を占領し臺灣諸港を封鎖して基隆を攻撃した。劉銘傳等基隆港口を扼してよく防戰したが遂に基隆は陷り佛軍は西航して根據地澎湖島に上陸した。クールベーは一舉北清を衝かんとしたが，此時佛國內には政變があって遠征を中止し，中將風土病の犠牲となり光緒十一年六月十一日客死した。彼の遺骸は本國佛蘭西に送られ一月廿八日巴里癈兵院で國葬に附せられ，彼の郷里ソンム州アップヴィルに葬られた。本碑は馬公街の北門外に在って，基隆クールベー濱の佛軍戰士の墓と共に臺灣總督府の管理に移された。圖の背後の石碑はルイジュエンス中尉とルィデル主計の墓標である。（見元了）
