CARAMURU

Escultura em bronze (Eduardo de Sá 1866-1940)

Alusivo ao Caramuru, poema épico do Descobrimento da Bahia, de autoria de Santa Rita Durão, e referente ao naufrágo Diogo Alves Correia, que em 1510 atinge as costa da Bahia. O apelido caramuru (filho do trovão) lhe teria sido atribuido pelos índios, após ter disparado um tiro de arma de fogo.
