写本、巻子本1軸。紙高31㎝。南都法蓮院釈迦堂の修造について、人々の助成を請う勧進帳。冒頭に「勧進沙門西阿敬白」とあり、本尊は天上天下の独尊(釈迦如来)、垂迹は法相擁護の霊神(春日明神)、左右の脇士は信貴・鞍馬両寺の毘沙門天と述べ、信貴山の毘沙門・鞍馬寺の毘沙門の霊験の由緒を記す。次いで、当堂は朽損したまま年を経ているため、人々の援助によって修造したい、同心合力の衆は、現世には息災安穏、来世には往生浄土の願望を遂げるであろうと記し、末尾に「享徳三年十一月 日」とある。書風などから、享徳3年(1454)当時の写本と見てよいと思われる。西阿は勧進聖と推測されるが、詳細は不明。法蓮院は現在の奈良市法蓮町にあった寺院らしく、興福寺の末寺であった。尋尊『大乗院寺社雑事記』長禄4年(1460)9月23日条に、「昨日法連院尺迦堂修理奉伽帳令加判了、勧進帳草安ハ光胤律師、清書安位寺御筆」とある勧進帳が本資料のことと考えられ、興福寺の学僧光胤(1396-1468)が文章を書き、「安位寺」即ち尋尊の前の興福寺大乗院門跡であった経覚(1395-1473)が清書したことが知られる。本書は『続群書類従』に「法蓮院釈迦堂修造勧進帳」の書名で収められるが、宮内庁書陵部所蔵の続群書類従原本の奥書に「右一巻以屋代弘賢蔵大乗院経覚僧正真跡本書写一校畢」とあり、かつて屋代弘賢(1758-1841)が蔵していた。巻末紙背に、古筆鑑定家の古筆了悦(1831-1894)が経覚の筆と極めた識語が記される。(落合博志)(2021.2)
