巻末に刊記:延宝五丁巳年六月吉日/下立売通/板木屋次郎右衛門板。題簽は小片が残るのみで、文字は判読できない。先行図に西田勝兵衛刊「東西海陸之図」があるが、本図は西海路のみが刊行された。大坂川口を巻頭とし、尼崎からの本州沿岸を上、岸和田から和歌山、淡路島、四国北岸を下に横長に瀬戸内海を描き、九州北岸から北東岸を通って長崎まで、紙幅にあわせ、変形して描く。そのため方角、島の形、位置なども正確とはいえず、墨の二重線の中を朱で彩色した海路(航路)の路線を主体とする。この時期には廃されていた児島の北を回る航路も描かれている。上記の海路表現、海中各所に見られる、かなの「セ」または「せ」を円で囲んだ浅瀬の所在、また長崎湾周辺の高札などの記号表現がある。『栗田文庫善本書目』によれば、題簽書名は「西海海路之づ」。
