Summary[edit]

Description
Cymraeg: Tre'r Ceiri: codwyd gan y Gangani, llwyth Celtaidd oedd a'u tiriogaeth ar benrhyn Llŷn, Gwynedd. Ychydig iawn a wyddys amdanynt, ond mae'n bosibl eu bod yn is-lwyth o'r Ordoficiaid. Cychwynwyd y gwaith tua 200 CC a bu'r llwyth yn byw yma dros y cyfnod Rhufeinig, sy'n awgrymu na chafod Gymru gyfan ei goresgyn gan y Rhufeiniaid. Tu mewn i'r muriau mae gweddillion tua 150 o dai crwn.
English: This SSSI was designated as a National Nature Reserve in February 2013.

Built by the Celtic Gangliani Tribe, around 200 BC; the tribe lived in both Ireland and Wales: in the south-west of the island, probably near the mouth of the River Shannon, here, in north-west Wales. Ptolemy calls the Llŷn Peninsula the "promontory of the Gangani" (Γαγγανὤν ἄκρον).

Known as the best preserved ironage hillfort, Tre'r Ceiri ("the Hillfort of the Giants") is around 2.5ha and contains over 150 circular houses. The hillfort is enclosed by a single rampart which stands up to 3.5m high.
