Notes
  • Significance: Structure Q is a large concrete foundation from a building which housed the Superior High School swimming pool. The foundation is located 30 feet west of Structure P. Structure Q is located atop a broad, linear ridge trending from west to east along the south side of Horse Thief Draw. The structure is located approximately 1/2 mile northwest of present Superior. The foundation forms the remainder of a demolished building. It is rectangular in shape with the long axis running from north to south. The overall dimensions are 82 feet 0 inches north to south by 68 feet 3 inches east to west. The south end of the building has a raised concrete platform 19 feet 6 inches wide north to south running the width of the building. The platform is 4 feet 8 inches above the remaining sections of the floor. Along portions of the south wall in the southeast and southwest ends of the foundation pale green ceramic tiles are present. The tiles are shower or bathroom tiles. Additional loose tiles are strewn across the concrete platform floor. North of the concrete platform the floor of the structure drops to approximately 8 feet below present ground surface. The concrete floor is covered with loose brick from the walls of the structure. An opening is present in the east wall of the foundation. This opening is a doorway. It is located 27 feet 6 inches north of the southeast corner and is 3 feet 4 inches wide and extends 6 feet 3 inches above the level of the floor. No door is present and the doorway is blocked by piles of earth. A short stub of a concrete dividing wall is present 22 feet 7 inches south of the north wall. Most of this dividing wall was removed and little remains. The final feature on this foundation is a concrete staircase located along the exterior of the north wall. The staircase ascends from east to west, however, the uppermost end has collapsed so that the total length is no longer present.
