allow for no further expansion. Whereupon theBoard authorized the Committee to add a tenth story, the total costnot to exceed $126,000. The Board was unanimous in deciding thatthe advantage of the extra story was well worth the extra expense andthat ways and means could be found to provide the money for payment. To give a general idea of the scope of the changes now under way wehave reproduced in this report the plans for the floors containing theoffices, the dining rooms, the operating room and the childrens wardsrespectively. A glance at these will explain a part of the greatly in-creased facilities obtained. The basement will contain the new laundry (^O.Ox^G) with East andWest windows and also a large ventilating plant. The deep excavationproviding a spacious yard will also allow for a direct air current Northand South through the Engineers department in the old building.In the South-west corner is to be located a new dormitory for such maleemployees as may live in the building. 2)

Plan of First or Office Floor. The first floor as shown by the plan is entirely re-arranged. The mainentrance is to be on Amsterdam Avenue and the offices will be placedto the left of the entrance in the new part. The space in the old buildingwill be entirely given over to the Medical Board. The present entrancewill be used exclusively by the patients. The Boarding Out Departmentwill be to the left of the door and the Outdoor Department to the right. On the second floor will be the dining rooms and kitchens in the old 22
