Summary
[edit]DescriptionNewcastle view from the Tyne Bridge - geograph.org.uk - 1736639.jpg |
English: Newcastle view from the Tyne Bridge In the foreground is the River Tyne. The buildings on the Quayside are Watergate Buildings on the left just by the ramp to the Swing Bridge 1133229, and the Guildhall on the right 1732959 with the narrow Watergate between 1734906
Up above, on the left, is a train on the upper railway level of the High Level Bridge 1133183 just before the railway bends leftwards (west), to the left of the prominent Castle Keep, that will take it to Central Station. This side of the Castle is the Grecian frontage of the Moot Hall with the Vermont Hotel and the crown spire of St Nicholas Cathedral behind. The street to the right of the Guildhall is the ancient, Sandhill. Further round to the right, this becomes Side which climbs up the old valley of the Lort Burn, under the Stephenson railway viaduct 1673887 visible above the roofs that takes trains leaving Central Station first east, then north. A tighter view taken from a point slightly further north along the Tyne Bridge, taken on the same day, is here 1133201 |
