English: Noel Lemass Memorial The inscription reads "In proud and loving memory of Captain Noel Lemass, 3rd Batt Dublin City Brigade I.R.A. who died so that the republic might live. His murdered body was found on this spot 13th October 1923."
Lemass was abducted by Free State forces in July 1923, two months after Civil War hostilities had ended. Noel's brother was Sean Lemass, who was Taoiseach from 1959 to 1966. |
