On the otherside was Matt manipulating the flash-light. Dr. Cookwould pose the subject at the other end of the room,and near at hand was a table at which he recorded hisanthropological measurements. It was interesting to observe the modesty both ofthe women and the men. They couldnot understand at first why I desiredto take their pictures in a nude condi-tion, and I am not sure that they evergot a very clear idea of the matter.I told them that we wished to comparetheir bodies with those of other peoplein the world, and it was not long beforesome of them grasped the idea so faras
