Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Nottingham Canal, Bridge 1c This bridge carries the railway. It is crossed by trains to Grantham, Lincoln and places east. Until the 1960s London trains crossed this bridge and what is now the Lady Bay road bridge on their way to Melton Mowbray, Corby, Kettering and the Midland Main Line. On the left, above the stone retaining wall, is the end of what was once the platform canopy of the Great Northern Railway's London Road station, until 1953 terminus for Northampton-Nottingham services via the now closed Melton Mowbray North and the GN&LNW Joint Line through the Vale of Belvoir; for many years it was a parcels depot, and is now a health club.
