Taken as a whole last season has been the most prosperous one inthe bistorjof the game, and reports m a majority of cases hear testimonyto its ever increasing popularity. Of course there have been instanceswhere some have met with disaster due to irregularities on their ownpart, or perhaps to connection with persons addicted to practices calcu-lated to injure the game; but happy to relate, the consequences of theirown folly have recoiled upon their own heads without seriously hurtingthe game, and it is probable that in future these unfortunates will givedue heed to the fact that the public is beginning to want straightbasktetball or none.
