le play-ing and upon going into a game any player may, upon re-quest of an official, be compelled to trim his finger nailsdown to such a length that they will not inflict scratchesor other injury upon an opponent. RULE 5.Officials. Section 1. The officials shall be a referee, an umpire,two scorers and two timekeepers. The Referee. Sec. 2. The referee is the superior officer of the gameand shall decide all questions not under the jurisdiction ofthe other officials and all questions not covered by therules. He shall have the power to impose all penalties andmay order any player, captain or manager to perform orrefrain from any action that he may deem necessary orprejudicial to the proper enforcement of the laws of thegame, and there shall be no appeal from any legal decisionof the referee on any point covered by the rules. Sec. 3. The referee shall be the sole judge of the balland shall decide when it is in play, when dead, when outof bounds, to which side it belongs and when a goal has
