| Description |
English: Old Coaching Route The Lewes-Eastbourne turnpike of 1752 came out of Winton Street on the right then headed down North Street before turning left in the distance along Lullington Road and over Long Bridge. This part was removed when the turnpike was rerouted via Arlington and what is now modern day Polegate. Sometime in the 19th century the road heading northwards between this junction and Berwick Court was added to cut out a loop, most of which became a bridleway though Winton Street remains in use for vehicular traffic today. |
