| Description |
English: Old dams on the Nant yr Oerfa These two old dams were built across the valley bottom to store the waters of the Nant yr Oerfa, possibly to provide water-power for one of the many small fulling mills servicing the local flannel-weaving industry, prior to 19th century industrialization. They appear as ponds on the OS maps but both dams were breached a long time ago and nature is steadily reclaiming the site. Traces of a small weir and sluice can be found in the boggy ground upstream. |
